PNT Solutions Engineer

**Duties & Responsibilities: **

We are seeking a Solutions Engineer to join our growing PNT (Position, Navigation, and Timing) Division, supporting commercial and defense customers in the Nordic region and wider EMEA on product integration and technical solutions. This is an individual contributor role reporting to the Director, Solutions Engineering, within the PNT Division.

The role provides product-level technical depth on the PNT portfolio to customer evaluations, integration projects, and technical proposals, and acts as the technical resource for VIAVI's regional sales and solutions engineering teams, working closely with Product Line Management and R&D. This position is home-office based in the Nordic region (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, or Finland) with approximately 25% travel within the Nordics and wider EMEA.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Pre-Sales Technical Support

• Provide technical pre-sales support for the PNT product portfolio including GNSS receivers, timing systems, and inertial navigation products

• Act as the technical escalation point for the regional sales and solutions engineering teams on product capabilities, configuration, and performance

• Deliver technical expertise to customer engineers for OEM module integration and system-level product deployment

• Conduct product demonstrations, bench and field tests, and proof-of-concept evaluations for customers

• Attend trade shows and host technical seminars to promote VIAVI PNT solutions

Technical Proposals

• Contribute product-level technical content to responses for RFIs, RFPs, tenders, and customer proposals, including compliance statements against customer specifications

• Create application briefs, integration guides, and technical documentation for customer opportunities

• Coordinate with Product Line Management and R&D on custom configurations, feature requests, and non-standard requirements

Customer Engagement

• Serve as technical point of contact for customer evaluation and integration projects

• Support customer prototype and evaluation programs from scoping through delivery, including test setup, data analysis, and reporting

• Troubleshoot integration and performance issues in the lab and at customer sites, working with R&D to resolve them

• Build technical relationships with customer engineering teams and integration partners

• Capture and communicate customer feedback and requirements to Product Line Management

Technical Enablement

• Develop and deliver technical training on the PNT product portfolio for the regional sales and solutions engineering teams

• Develop technical content for customer education

• Maintain hands-on expertise on the PNT product portfolio, including new product and firmware releases

• Support technical review of marketing materials, datasheets, and application notes

**Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements: **

Required Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree or higher (B.Sc./M.Sc.) in a relevant technical field; or equivalent military/professional technical training and experience
• Experience in GNSS, PNT, timing, or inertial navigation systems
• 4+ years of experience in applications engineering, technical sales support, product support, or customer-facing technical roles
• Hands-on experience configuring, testing, and troubleshooting hardware products in a lab or field environment
• Fluent written and spoken English (CEFR level C1 or equivalent)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with ability to present complex technical concepts
• Self-motivated with ability to work independently from a home office
• Ability to travel within the Nordic region and wider EMEA up to 25%

Desired Experience:

• Technical experience with OEM modules and system-level PNT products

• Experience with Assured PNT, navigation warfare, or GNSS resilience technologies

• Familiarity with precision timing, oscillators (OCXO, CSAC, Rubidium), or Iridium PNT technology

• Familiarity with network timing and synchronization (IEEE 1588 PTP, SyncE)

• Experience supporting defense, aerospace, or telecommunications customers

• Knowledge of RF systems, signal processing, or embedded systems integration

• Scripting experience (Python) for test automation and data analysis

• Eligible to obtain and maintain a national security clearance in the country of residence
