We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Training and Education Specialist, focusing primarily on Interventional Pain Therapies, including balloon kyphoplasty, bone tumor ablation, basivertebral nerve ablation, and soft tissue ablation. This position will be responsible for new hire, launch and selling skills course development and execution; assessment and integration of innovative technology into Sales Training; and development of product launch sales training curriculum. This position will partner with faculty, business leaders and medical education/sales training teams to execute the training strategy, implement new training practices with expertise. In addition, this individual will be responsible for owning and developing the learning pathway and content creation to ensure field sales and clinical teams are competent in clinically supporting and selling Pain products and therapies. This individual works under the direction of the Sr. Pain Interventions Sales Training Manager.
This remote role supports Medtronic’s patient-first mission through cross-functional collaboration and requires up to 50% travel.Primary responsibilities:
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Lead and execute New Hire, Launch and Selling Skills training courses for Interventional Pain Therapies
Strongly influence the design of new product launch training plans based on business strategy with a significant focus on clinical and technical competency.
Design and execute creative and engaging, sales-focused training programs that are targeted, purposeful, and increase knowledge, selling skills and clinical competency.
Ensure timely updates to the course curricula to reflect changes in product offerings and market demands.
Drive innovative training and education methods across digital and virtual platforms.
Collaborate with cross functional groups (Product Marketing, Sales, Product Development, Services, Legal, Quality, and Regulatory) to create training programs, curricula, course materials and measurements that support business unit strategies and are compliant with regulatory, quality systems, and Business Conduct Standards.
Stay abreast of training and development industry research, (e.g. learning theory, motivation theory), and new methods and techniques.
Demonstrate training effectiveness through systematic program evaluation and continuous improvement strategy to measure training efficacy, managing raw data analytics for internal and external satisfaction and impact.
Work collaboratively with the sales training and medical education partners across Pain Therapies to develop new processes, quality standards and increase efficiency of the team.
Maintain a high level of competency in disease management, Medtronic device therapy application, and related systems through continuous learning (i.e. seminars, self-study, workshops, literature review, etc.).
Responsible for project performance, risk management, administration, financial management, and issue resolution
Travel requirement: <50%
Preferred Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent with 11+ years of relevant experience in a clinical lab setting, clinical training, field sales/support in medical device, healthcare industry or equivalent experience (OR Associate's Degree with 9+ years experience OR Baccalaureate Degree with 7+ years experience).
Nice to Have
- Experience leading/supporting medical device product launch training strategy and execution.
- Experience developing curriculum and training content (PowerPoint, sales aids, and/or learning management systems such as Cornerstone).
- Proficiency with instructional design and e-learning development.
- Experience creating competency -based learning pathways, certification programs, and field readiness assessments for sales and clinical teams.
- Experience working with Pain Management, Neurosurgery, Orthopedic Surgery, Interventional Radiology, or other physicians.
- Experience with design, delivery, and evaluation of education across various digital and virtual platforms.
For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$109,600.00 - $164,400.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
