Position Overview
Autodesk's Ecommerce platform team is looking for a talented Senior Software Developer who is passionate about building and delivering innovative solutions for our common platform. As part of the Ecommerce Engineering team, you will implement new features that engage and influence Autodesk customers worldwide. Our team tackles a variety of challenges, from creating new tools and components and implementing critical services, to digging into low-level performance details and streamlining processes, all while supporting a growing volume of orders. The ideal candidate has experience on teams developing modern cloud-based services in a fast-paced, agile environment. We use AI across the development lifecycle, and you'll help us find the best ways to apply it to build faster and with high quality.
Responsibilities
You'll design, build, and ship backend services and REST APIs on AWS, including serverless and event-driven components
Partner with architects, technical leads, and product owners to turn a shared vision into clear designs and deliverables
Set the bar for engineering standards on the team: quality, security, resiliency, and efficiency. Lead by example in code reviews, and mentor developers through pairing and feedback
Build reusable solutions, frameworks, automation, and orchestration that serve a broad range of applications, so other teams don't have to solve the same problems twice
Own quality end to end. Write unit and integration tests, keep them in the CI/CD pipeline, and refactor when it makes the code easier to change or safer to run
Help plan and drive complex technical projects from design through delivery, including breaking down the work, surfacing risks early, and supporting the team through rollout
Take part in the operational health of the services you build: use observability tools to troubleshoot, join on-call and incident response
Use AI tools to move faster in design, coding, testing, and debugging. Hold AI-assisted work to the same review and testing standards as any other code, and help the team build good habits around it
Collaborate across a globally distributed team and with stakeholders
Communicate clearly in writing, and keep decisions and context visible to others
Minimum Qualifications
BA/BS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
Strong written and verbal communication, and a track record of mentoring other developers and contributing to design reviews
5+ years of professional experience building and shipping backend software
Strong proficiency in at least one backend language (Java, TypeScript, Python, Go, Ruby, etc.)
Experience designing, building, and versioning APIs
Solid understanding of relational databases, including schema design and query optimization
Advanced knowledge of AWS (Lambda, SQS/SNS, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, IAM), with hands-on experience building and running serverless, event-driven services
Experience owning CI/CD pipelines and deployments, including safe rollout and rollback practices
Proven testing discipline: unit, integration, and end-to-end tests, with testing built into the delivery pipeline
Hands-on experience with observability and troubleshooting tools
Experience using AI coding assistants in daily engineering work, and the judgment to review, test, and validate AI-generated code before it ships
